Alloys and their Densities

An alloy is a substance that's made by combining two or more metallic elements, this is usually done to get a stronger material. Some alloys include:
-Bronze, which is made of copper, tin and aluminium
-Crown gold, which is made of gold, silver and copper
-Steel, which is made of iron and carbon.

Different alloys have different densities because of the different masses and volumes in elements that make them up. Alloys will have higher densities if the mass or volume of its elements is bigger.

Forces: Hooke's Law

Hooke's law states that the distance covered when springs are compressed or extended is proportional to the force applied, this means that when the force applied is bigger; the extension will increase. This realationship however is not directly proportional meaning that when a graph is plotted for the data, the line will not cross the origin.
Bed mattresses are an example; when a person with lighter weight lies on them; the compression will be less than when a heavier person lies on them.

Density In Real Life

Density is the degree of compactness of a substance, and it's affected by mass and volume.
We encounter examples of density in real everyday and everywhere. One example for this is water bottles; in a water bottle there is: density, volume and mass. If the volume decreases then so will the density because the molecules are now more spread out.
